🌍✨ This week in social studies, our 6th graders explored the difference between absolute and relative location! Students teamed up to move through the 6th grade wing, testing out different scenarios to determine which type of location they were working with. This activity not only helped them think on their feet but also gave them the chance to put one of the 5 Themes of Geography into action in a fun and meaningful way.
One of the best parts was that students got to collaborate with peers from the other grade level team, which made the learning feel like a shared adventure and added to the excitement of the day!
👏 A big shoutout to our amazing social studies teachers, Mr. DeWindt and Mr. Faulkner, for planning such an engaging and interactive lesson that brought geography to life!

For those new to Summit: TSA (Technology Student Association) is a national organization where students get to design, build, code, lead, and compete in events that challenge creativity, teamwork, and innovation. It’s a place to discover new skills, make friends, and achieve big things together.

Summit Walkaround
Families are invited to walk their student's schedule together on Aug. 9th from 8:00am-11:00am or Aug. 12th from 4:00pm-7:00pm. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to locate their classrooms, find their daily route, and get ready for a great school year!
6th Grade Informational Meeting
A special presentation for families navigating the transition to middle school will be held on Aug. 12th at 6:30pm in the cafeteria. Join us to learn more about Summit and what to expect this year! This presentation is a repeat of information presented in May.
🥎 Softball Tryouts Reminder! 🥎
7th and 8th grade girls interested in playing softball are invited to attend tryouts August 4th - 6th from 6:00pm-8:00pm at the Summit Softball Field! Optional practices are taking place July 28th - July 31st from 6:00pm-8:00pm at the Summit Softball Field for athletes that would like to get some practice in before trying out. We're excited to invite all incoming 6th grade Eagles to our upcoming student orientation event, Camp Summit! This event will take place on August 6th from 2pm-6pm. The drop-off and pick-up location for students is the Summit Gym. This year's event will be extra special because it's being led by our amazing 8th grade WEB (Where Everyone Belongs) Leaders! These students are ready to help guide our newest classmates as they: make new friends, explore the school, play fun games, and get excited to kick off their middle school journey! We can't wait to see all the smiling faces and help our 6th graders feel confident and connected from day one!
